Jews, African Americans and Civil Rights in Summerville

On Monday, February 27th, The Summerville Community Artists Heritage Series presented "SHARED DREAMS: Jews and African Americans and Civil Rights" at Coastal Coffee Roasters. This was a free program spotlighting talented youth and adult performers from the Summerville area. Featuring Robin Shuler, Music Director at KKBE and John P. Scott, Summerville Musician, performing Kosher Gospel. Students expressed their feelings about the civil rights movement through music, visual arts, spoken word and dance. Robyn Wittenberg Dudley,  a volunteer with the Summerville Dorchester museum and a member of the Summerville north area Jewish community, addressed the group discussing the topic of Jewish involvement in the civil rights movement. Reverend John Scott from St Paul's church represented the Summerville Ministerial Association.
