First Time Camp Families

Welcome prospective camp families! You’ve come to the right place – we are here to help you find the right camp for your child and make that camp a reality. First-time campers at 150+ overnight camps and teen programs may be eligible for a gift of up to $1,000 from a One Happy Camper grant.

“The one happy camper grant truly changed our ability to send our children to camp. We so strongly want them to have the opportunity to have a summer experience immersed in Jewish life and this made it possible!”

Here are our top 5 tips for finding the right camp:

  1. Take time to do research – ideally start more than a year in advance (though we can help you find a camp on short notice as well!)

  2. Involve your child, so that they have a vested interest

  3. Talk with the camp director, staff, and other families

  4. Ideally visit camps during the summer while in session; alternatively, consider off-season visits, home visits by camp director, or camp events

  5. Evolve as you proceed through the process – and trust your gut feeling!

It is never too early or too late to begin camp – including many program options for teens of all ages!
