B’nai Tzedek Teen Philanthropy Program

The B’nai Tzedek Teen Philanthropy Program is redefining what it means to be a Jewish philanthropist by showing young people that they have the power to make change in the world through a personal and engaged relationship to lifelong giving. The program is a tool for teens to give tzedakah, deepen their commitment to social action and be a part of a program that models youth leadership. The objectives are:

  • To create a way for Jewish teens to establish an endowment fund in his or her name in collaboration with the Jewish Endowment Fund of the Charleston Jewish Federation.
  • To empower Jewish teens to change the world through Jewish philanthropy, tikkun olam and tzedakah.
  • To educate Jewish teens about local, and international nonprofit Jewish organizations and teach skills for an allocation process.
  • To encourage Jewish teens to increase their giving capacity through growth of individual funds and a youth foundation model.
  • To offer the opportunity to network with other Jewish teens locally to share their vision of philanthropy, tikkun olam and tzedakah.
